A Korean painter, Kim Hyun Jung who captured publics & critics heart through her pieces ‘Feign’ series. The artist who will lead K-painting like the world famous K-pop. Feign : You Move Me

“During I paint, it is easy to skip to meal. So I used to eat a fast food like McDonald, I painted this piece remembering delivery service.”

“Just after graduating from the university, one side of my heart was so heavy. Because I felt feeling of uneasiness as an artist, so I always painted with uncomfortable mind. So now, I appreciate the present and the people who like me and my pieces. And I’m grateful day after day that I can study as student while I paint and various works as the artist.”

“Sometimes I face an unseen limitation, so I feel that it is too much for my strength. But I am happy, because of my present gives to me a multitude of possibilities. I know very well that it is a totally difficult proces, the painting isn’t painful things but happiest moments. And the visitor’s attention & love are exactly makes me move as the artist. 아시아를 넘어 전 세계를 휩쓸고 있는 K-pop의 버금가는 K-painting을 이끌어갈 그녀. 최근 ‘2015 제8회 올해의 여성문화인상’에서 청강문화상을 수상하는 등 평단과 대중의 이목을 동시에 사로잡은 그녀. 작가 김현정의 치열한 성장과정과 그 ‘궤’를 함께 하는 2016년 ‘내숭’ 시리즈가 기다려지는 이유는 그녀의 일기장 속 솔직 발랄한 이야기들을 훔쳐보고 싶은 호기심은 때문은 아닐까. 컬쳐엠매거진이 한국화가 김현정의 내숭 시리즈를 작가노트와 함께 정기적으로 공개할 예정이다.

“작업을 하다 보면 끼니를 챙기기 애매한 경우가 많은데 그럴 때 수시로 이용했던 패스트푸드 딜리버리 서비스를 떠올리며 그린 그림이다.대학교 졸업 직후 마음 한편이 많이 무거웠다. 작가로서의 미래가 불투명하게 느껴졌고 뭔가 항상 불안해하면서 그림을 그렸다. 그래서 나와 나의 그림을 찾는 이가 있는 현재가 정말 감사하고, 공부를 하면서도 꾸준히 전시와 다양한 활동을 할 수 있는 하루하루가 정말 소중하다고 느껴진다.”

“보이지 않는 한계를 마주하여 힘에 부친 적도 많지만 무언가에 몰두할 수 있는 바쁜 일상이 있어 나는 행복하다. 힘든 과정이긴 하지만 그림을 그리는 것이 나를 채찍질하기보다는 즐거운 마음으로, 멈출 수 없어서 하는 일이고 싶다. 그리고 그 동력을 제공하는 것은 바로 나의 작품을 감상해주는 관객들의 관심과 사랑이다. 그러니 진짜 ‘나를 움직이는 당신’은 바로 관객일 것이다.” – 한국화가 김현정

And I re-watched the countless seen movie ‘Factory Girl’ about Andy Warhol & his muse, Edie Sedgwick. Only think how long it is since I last felt real rest! “Literally, this piece <Live due to form, Die due to form> expresses a same meaning what the piece says. In fact, ‘Live due to form, Die due to form’ means ‘satisfaction with one’s unique style’, many people looked in a negative light for the trend unlike individuality in 1990’s. But people’s view for trend is changing little by little, I think that a trend is a polished & sensuously way for express myself. “<폼생폼사>는 제목의 의미를 그대로 차용하여 ‘폼으로 살고, 폼으로 죽는다’라는 내용을 담은 작품입니다. 여기서 폼생폼사는 ‘자신만의 스타일’에 취한다는 것을 뜻하는데요, 90년대만 해도 유행이라는 것이 개성과는 대비되는 개념으로 여겨지면서 유행을 따른다는 것을 부정적인 시각으로 바라보았습니다. 그러나 점점 유행을 바라보는 시각이 변하고 있는데요, 저는 유행이란 그 시대에 맞게 자신을 세련되고 감각적으로 표현하는 것이라고 생각합니다. 결국 유행을 따르는 것이 ‘자신만의 스타일’로 발전할 수 있고. 자신감을 드러내는 수단이 될 수 있다고 생각합니다.” – 한국화 화가 김현정

<Feign : Keep it Up !>​ is an art piece of ‘Weights series’, and it embodies that some serious thoughts about ‘the weight of time’ in our life. The weight of a day, what is your one day weight? Sometimes, it is too heavy more than we can take. If you feel that today is too hard, would you prepare some comfort messages for yourself? Returning home after a tiring day, I heard ‘Keep it Up !’ of OKDAL while I lied on the bench with fallen leaves. I want to say for someone that we are enough good, we need some rest, so ‘Keep it Up !’. Of course, it is the mind for us. “Keep it Up !”

내숭 : 수고했어, 오늘도

<내숭 : 수고했어, 오늘도>는 ‘역기 시리즈’중 한 작품으로 시간의 무게에 대한 생각을 옮긴 작업입니다. 당신의 오늘 하루는 몇 kg였나요, 하루의 무게. 가끔 버거울 만큼 무겁기도 합니다. 오늘 하루가 힘들게 느껴졌다면, 스스로에게 수고했다고 위로의 말을 해주면 어떨지. 하루를 무사히 마치고 돌아와, 낙엽이 내린 야외 벤치에 누워 옥상달빛의 ‘수고했어, 오늘도’를 들어봅니다. 바쁘게 앞만 보고 목표를 향해 달려가는 우리의 모습을 보며, ‘잠시 쉬어도 돼!, 수고했어’라고 말해주고 싶습니다. 물론 우리 모두가 듣고 싶은 말이기도 하고요. “수고했어, 오늘도.” – 한국화 화가 김현정
