“<폼생폼사>는 제목의 의미를 그대로 차용하여 ‘폼으로 살고, 폼으로 죽는다’라는 내용을 담은 작품입니다. 여기서 폼생폼사는 ‘자신만의 스타일’에 취한다는 것을 뜻하는데요, 90년대만 해도 유행이라는 것이 개성과는 대비되는 개념으로 여겨지면서 유행을 따른다는 것을 부정적인 시각으로 바라보았습니다. 그러나 점점 유행을 바라보는 시각이 변하고 있는데요, 저는 유행이란 그 시대에 맞게 자신을 세련되고 감각적으로 표현하는 것이라고 생각합니다. 결국 유행을 따르는 것이 ‘자신만의 스타일’로 발전할 수 있고. 자신감을 드러내는 수단이 될 수 있다고 생각합니다.” – 한국화 화가 김현정
